Primeval - John Frizzell

Primeval suffers from the common horror film syndrome. It shows flashes of brilliance and horror, and unfortunately most of the time, exposes us to some mediocre and sometimes awful film-making. It's a pity this film wastes what could of otherwise been a fairly strong entry into the killer-animal genre. I would only recommend seeing it if you're a strong fan of the genre.

Here's the bad, very briefly: some acting isn't that great, it's somewhat cliché, some parts could have been scarier, and some scenes just fall short of the mark. It also feels cheap in places, although this I really didn't mind; the film is shot documentary style in places, so it feels unpolished. Some of this is evident throughout the film.

The good, what parts there are of it, fair pretty well, albeit they are few and far in between. There are some tense scenes, some which are shown in the trailer and some you'll have to see for yourself. Anybody looking for a B-Horror flick probably won't be disappointed, however. All in all Primeval brings very little new to the table, and is probably best described as a guilty pleasure or popcorn flick; even these may be flattering.

The score was composed by John Frizzell and he supposedly traveled to Africa for a few months to learn what sounds to use for the score. But the score sounds like he only worked on the project for maybe 3 weeks. It's a decent score but I'm not surprised it did not get an official release.

Updated Links

I have updated all previous download links. So you now should be able to download all the previous releases from I Still Know What You Did Last Summer all the way to Dukes of Hazzard. Happy listening.

Carnosaur - Nigel Holton

In the midst of Jarassic Park, a small dino-craze swept the screen. A scientist creates a virus that is exposed quickly to most of the population. It causes the women to become pregnant and give birth to full size dinosaur eggs. Unfortunately, the woman die in the process and the men are soon next once the eggs hatch. This is done in order to repopulate the earth with these prehistoric reptiles because they must deserve it more than us. This is a fun and much gorier JP ripoff that is nowhere near as good, especially when it comes to special effects which in this case are pretty bad but still entertaining.

The score, of course, was never released to the public. And why should it be? The film had a hard enough time getting released to the public...lol

Anyways here is the score to the super cheesy film.

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut - Marc Shaiman

Based upon Trey Parker & Matt Stone's short "The Spirit of Christmas" comes South Park. A show set in South Park, Colorado and set on the adventures of four foul-mouthed fourth-graders being: Eric Cartman, the rude, obnoxious, sadistic, racist, fat kid; Stan Marsh, a quiet kid with a huge crush on Wendy Testaberger (in which he usually ends up vomiting whenever she talks to her or when something gross occurs); Kyle Brofloski, the religious Jewish kid who Cartman picks on for being Jewish; and Kenny, the orange parka-hooded kid who (pretty much) dies in almost every episode.

Two years later the animated cartoon hit the big screen in their first, and so far only, adventure, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. And what a controversy it created. Trey Parker and Matt Stone had to fight with the MPAA in order to get the movie a R rating. The movie is a musical in the style of Disney films, but with naughty subjects and very bad language. Trey Parker wrote the songs for the film along with film composer, Marc Shaiman.

Sadly, Marc Shaimans original score for the film was not commercially released. He wrote a big orchestral score for the film and blends the songs all together. The CD release only featured the songs from the film plus a few bonus songs from various artists.

Luckily, a promo surfaced a few years after the films release. This release features Marc Shaimans complete original score plus the film versions of the songs which are different then the ones featured on the soundtrack (exp. some different lyrics, more orchestrations)

xXx State of the Union / Cursed - Marco Beltrami

Sorry for the long delay. Been a busy few months. With the new year here now, I hope to be posting alot more now. So today, I will be posting a double feature from Marco Beltrami.

First up is Marco Beltrami's score for the sequel, xXx: State of the Union. The movie is pure popcorn, over the top action but to me is way better than the first film. Defiently the one thing that stands out from this film than the original, is Marco's score.

Marco wrote a great action score with alittle James Bond flavor added in. Sadly, I think because of the box-office failure, the score was not commercially released. So I present to you, the complete score for the film, xXx State of the union.

Next up is Marco's score for the film, Cursed. The movie brought back Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson and Marco Beltrami who all worked together on the Scream trilogy. While the score is not up to par with the Scream scores. It is a very entertaining listen and I think it could have deserved a commercial release. But Marco did not like how the score turned out in the end and I think is one of the reasons why there was no official release. The score is fully orchestral with some cues having synth elements added in. Overall, I think it's a score you'll want to sink your teeth into...lol

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer - John Frizzell

With the success of I Know What You Did Last Summer, it did not take a rocket scientist to figure out there would be a sequel to the hit film. Kevin Williamson, of the Scream franhise, wrote the screenplay for the film and the score was written by John Debney whos only other horror score prior to I Know was called The Relic.

John wrote a great moody score which set the tone of the film, scary and mysterious. But when it was time for the sequel, the original film makers did not come back. And so Sony, for god knows why, hired the film makers of the dreaded movie, Judge Dreadd (pun intended). While not the worst sequel ever made, this was a very terrible sequel for an originally good film. The story is all over the place. They tried to save the film by always showing us close ups of Jennifer Love Hewitt's lovely breasts. But even those couldn't help the movie.

The only thing worth while that came out of the movie was the score, this time by composer John Frizzell. John wrote a very action and frantic horror score. Very gothic sounding in some parts. While I Know What You Did Last Summer did get a limited score cd release a few years back, I STILL Know did not. Before all you could get was Julie's Theme on the original soundtrack. But now I present you John Frizzell's complete motion picture score to the terrible shit-fest film, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

House / House II - Harry Manfredini

Roger Cobb is a Vietnam vet. Whose career as a horror novelist has taken a turn for the worse when his son Jimmy mysteriously disappears while visiting his aunt's house. Roger's search for Jimmy destroys his marriage and his writing career. The sudden death of his aunt brings Roger back to the house where his nightmares began. The evil zombies in the house force Roger to endure a harrowing journey into his past, at the end of which he find his son. Desperate to escape from the tortures of the house, Roger must battle the evil forces which have haunted him for a lifetime in order to save himself and his son from certain death.

Sean S. Cunningham, who directed Friday the 13th, produced the film and was directed by Steve Miner, who directed Friday the 13th Part 2 & 3, Halloween H20 and the upcoming Day of the Dead remake. They brought us a great, fun movie. At times you may clutch your seat and other times you'll be laughing your ass off.

Harry Manfredini was hired to compose the score for House. As always he uses a real small group of live players and a lot of synth. It's a fun score that shouldn't be missed. The cd was released back when House 2 came out but is long out of print. If you like the score, I suggest ebay to look for a copy to buy.

CD also contains Harry's score for House II.

Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives - Harry Manfredini

Theres alot of info that surrounds the Friday the 13th scores. I
see people all the time looking for the scores for all the films which, in reality, is not possible. "Why?' do you ask?. Well here's the simple
version.

Harry Manfredini was hired to write an original score for Friday
the 13th but the music was later reused for the next 3 films. Like this:

Friday the 13th - Original score
Friday the 13th Part 2 - Reused score, no original music
Friday the 13th Part 3 - Reused score, new original main title.
Friday the 13th Part 4 - Reused score, no original music
Friday the 13th Part 5 - New original score
Friday the 13th Part 6 - New original score
Friday the 13th Part 7 - Half score reused from the previous films, the second have new muisc by Fred Mollin.
Friday the 13th Part 8 - New original score by Fred Mollin

And there you go. Now on to the score. A few years back, Manfredini stated he would like to release a 2cd compilation set of his music for the Friday the 13th films. Sadly though he said all the original masters were damaged from time and he would have to reperform them on hi ssynth. To this day he still plans on doing it but not anytime soon.

Luckly, a bootleg floated to the surfice for Jason Lives. Someone who had a dat copy of the score transfered it to cd. This is a very rare score since the masters are long gone now. If your a big fan of Friday the 13th and horror scores, I suggest you grab this little gem.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space - John Massari

In 1988 the Chiodo Brothers, who created the creature effects for the first two "Critters" movies, came along and gave us this zany but hilarious horror/comedy romp 'Killer Klowns from Outer Space'. The movie is pretty rediculous, but the directors knew this and was able to give us a entertaining saturday afternoon movie to watch.

When a small town is invaded by aliens from outer space who are capturing and killing the townspeople, no one takes them seriously. Why? The aliens all look like circus clowns, use weapons that look clown like, and all have painted on smiles. Only a few of the young people in the town realize the danger and of course no one believes them. Armed with an ice cream truck they try and rescue their friends.

John Massari provided the creepy electronic score. The main theme is catchy, which first appears in track 6. The score has been in demand for along time and after 18 years, we were finally given a limited release for the score. If you really liked the score and dig the movie, I suggest finding a copy of the score to buy. Ebay is always the best place.

Enjoy the show!
